Charity Navigator looks at two areas of performance: financial health as well as accountability and transparency. Only 11 percent of the charities rated have had at least five consecutive 4-star ratings, according to Charity Navigator.
"This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets MusiCares apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness," the Charity Navigator added.?
In a statement,?the MusiCares said it?provided more than $6.5 million to approximately 8,600 members of the music industry in the last fiscal year alone. The charity continued,?"The largest number of clients served and dollars distributed in a single year in the charity's history and a new milestone. Across all of its programs and services, MusiCares has served close to 150,000 clients since 1989. To date, MusiCares has distributed more than $60 million to music people in need."
